Easy and effective ways to avoid the blue double thick on WhatsApp

In the last couple of days, WhatsApp has introduced the well known "blue double  thicks", to indicate that the message has been read by the receiver. This new feature, introduced by Facebook (the current owner of WhatsApp) hasn't been well received by its users. No one wanted the confirmation of read message.

Are there any ways to avoid this new feature? Yes, absolutely.

In internet it is already possible to read about various ineffective methods, such as: activate the AirPlane mode, read the messages, go back to the home screen, deactivate the AirPlane mode, or download (on Android) previous versions of WhatsApp, where this feature hadn't been implemented yet and the confirmation was not sent.

Having done some research, I suggest you two new methods that are definitely handier and, rather shockingly, already integrated in the application!!

1) Widget!

The first method is the one I prefer.

It is possible to create a new desktop on your device and add the original widget of WhatsApp messages. In this way, whenever you receive a new message, it will be displayed within the widget and you will be able to read it (being careful not to touch a message with your finger). With the scroll feature you will be able to see the whole list of received messages.

ALL MESSAGES APPEARING IN THE WIDGET CAN BE READ WITHOUT THE SENDER RECEIVING THE BLUE DOUBLE THICK. 

As you can see from the screenshots, it is necessary to select the "WhatsApp Widget" and insert it on an empty desktop (so that you can enlarge the widget to its maximum size and have more space for reading).

2) Popup!

This method can be even more interesting because in some cases it is even possible to reply without sending the annoying notification.

Go to WhatsApp -> Settings -> Notifications. It is possible to select the option PopUp both for single messages and for groups.

By activating this option, every time you receive a message, WhatsApp will very kindly open a popup letting you see the content!

The two important things to remember in order to avoid sending the notification are the following:

•  Do not click on "View" or "Close" but use instead the buttons "Home" and "Back" from your device.
• Only reply to a message if the sender has sent you more than one message. Why? Because the popup works like a stack of dirty dishes: every message received will be put on top of the previous one. When you reply to a message, that same message will be removed from the "message tail" of the popup (as you do when you remove a dirty dish from the stack, in order to wash it). If there's only one message in the popup and you reply, the popup will close, as if you had clicked on "Close" and it will send the notification to the sender. 

As you can see from the screenshots, in order to use this method you need to go to WhatsApp's Settings, and then select "Notifications" and "Always show Popup". In this way, whenever you receive a message, a pop up will open as the following.

  

 
These are at the moment the most useful methods in order to read all messages received on WhatsApp without sending the blue double thick.

Semplici ed efficaci metodi per evitare la doppia spunta blu su WhatsApp

Da qualche giorno WhatsApp ha introdotto la ben nota "Doppia spunta blu" per indicare l'avvenuta lettura del messaggio da parte del destinatario finale. Questa nuova funzionalità introdotta da Facebook (attuale proprietario di WhatsApp) ha fatto storcere il naso alla maggiorparte dei suoi utenti. La conferma di avvenuta lettura è un'opzione che non voleva nessuno.


Ci sono quindi metodi per evitare questa notifica? Assolutamente sì!

In internet stanno circolando diversi metodi, poco funzionali come: entrare in AirPlane mode, leggere i messaggi, tornare nella screen di home, disattivare l'AirPlane mode o scaricare (su Android) versioni di WhatsApp precedenti, dove la funzionalità non era ancora presente e la conferma non veniva inviata.

Facendo qualche ricerca vi consiglio due metodi molto più comodi e udite udite integrati direttamente nell'applicazione!!

1) Metodo: Widget!

Il primo metodo è quello che preferisco.

E' possibile creare un nuovo sfondo sul vostro dispositivo e aggiungere il widget originale dei messaggi di WhatsApp. In questo modo, quando vi arriverà qualche messaggio verrà presentato all'interno del widget e voi potrete leggerlo (facendo attenzione a non toccarlo con il dito) e con la funzionalità di scroll avrete a disposizione l'intera lista dei messaggi ricevuti. 

TUTTI I MESSAGGI PRESENTI NEL WIDGET SI POSSONO LEGGERE SENZA CHE IL MITTENTE RICEVA LA NOTIFICA DELLE DOPPIE SPUNTE BLU.

Come si può vedere dagli screenshot è necessario selezionare il "Widget WhatsApp" e inserirlo in uno sfondo vuoto (in modo da poter ingrandire il widget al massimo e avere più spazio per poter leggere).

2) Metodo: Popup!

Questo metodo può essere ancora più interessante perchè in alcuni casi è addirittura possibile rispondere al messaggio ricevuto senza mandare la fastidiosa notifica.

Andando nelle Impostazioni di WhatsApp -> Notifiche è possibile selezionare l'opzione PopUp sia per i messaggi singoli che per i gruppi.

Attivando questa opzione, ogni volta che un messaggio viene ricevuto, WhatsApp aprirà gentilmente un popup facendoci vedere il contenuto!

Le cose importanti per evitare di mandare la notifica sono due:

• Non cliccare sui due pulsanti "Visualizza" o "Chiudi" ma usare i tasti "Home" o "Indietro" presenti sul nostro dispositivo.
• Rispondere al messaggio di un utente solo se quest'ultimo vi ha scritto più messaggi. Perchè dico questo? Perchè il popup funziona come una pila di piatti sporchi: ogni messaggio ricevuto viene messo sopra il precedente, come quando si accatastano un piatto sporco sopra l'altro. Quando si risponde a un messaggio, quel messaggio viene rimosso dalla "coda di messaggi" del popup (come quando si lava un piatto sporco, viene rimosso dalla pila dei piatti ancora da lavare). Se è' presente solo un messaggio nel popup e voi rispondete, il popup si chiuderà come se aveste cliccato sul pulsante "Close" e invierà la notifica al mittente.

Come si vede dagli screenshot, per questo metodo si deve andare nelle "Impostazioni" di WhatsApp, dopodichè scegliere "Notifiche" e selezionare "Mostra sempre Popup". In questo modo ad ogni messaggio ricevuto si aprirà un popup come i seguenti.

Questi sono i metodi attualmente più comodi per potere leggere tutti i messaggi ricevuti su WhatsApp senza le doppie spunte blu.
